Anna received her first international opportunity at the start of the current Olympic cycle in 2017 and since then, has been a consistent presence in the England squad. In fact, Anna has been said to have established herself as the epitome of England’s new style of attacking, expansive play after a number of post-Rio retirements.
At the 2018 World Cup, which was hosted by the city of London, Anna played a pivotal role for the home nation who went unbeaten through the group stages, which included an impressive 1-0 win over finalists Ireland. However, the side were unable to overcome the eventual winners in the quarterfinals and were eliminated from the competition following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Netherlands.
Before breaking into the senior England squad, Anna was impressing with the England U16s, U18s and U21s, helping the U21s side win a duo of bronze medals during her time in the squad. The first podium finish came in 2012, at the European Under 21s Championship. The second medal was won two years later at another Under 21 European event, an accolade not to be scoffed at considering the fierce competition that was present.
In between the two aforementioned U21 tournaments, Anna was chosen to represent Team GB at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympics where she again contributed to the squad winning a bronze medal.
